Overview
MQ Encyclopedia is a lightweight mobile application that allows users to browse and read PDF books which are delivered from our official website via a secure API. This Policy explains what information the App accesses, how that information is used, and the choices available to users.
Key points:
- The App does not collect personal data from users (no account, no analytics, no tracking).
- The App requests no Android permissions beyond what the system requires for normal operation (see note below).
- Offline reading is available only for PDFs the user explicitly downloads to their device.
What data the App accesses
The App is designed to minimize access to any personal or device data. Details below:
- Content from our Website: The App fetches PDF files and related metadata (title, author, description, categories) from our own website using our API. Network requests use HTTPS.
- Downloaded PDFs (Offline): If a user chooses to download a PDF for offline reading, the file is stored locally on the user’s device. These files remain under the user's control and are removed only when the user deletes them through the App or the device file manager.
- No personal account data: The App does not require or collect user accounts, email addresses, names, contacts, or any other personal identifiers.
- No analytics or tracking: The App does not include analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs that collect device identifiers or usage behavior.
Permissions
By default the App does not request any special runtime permissions from the user. The only permissions used (if any) are the minimal system permissions required by Android to save files to the app storage area for offline reading. The App does not access contacts, camera, microphone, or location.
(Exact permission list may vary by Android version. The Play Console listing should only show the permissions actually requested at build time.)
Why we access this data
- To deliver PDF content from our website to the App via secure API calls.
- To allow users to download PDFs for offline reading and manage those downloads locally.
- To ensure reliable and secure delivery of content (HTTPS, secure hosting).
Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or share personal data for advertising or marketing purposes because we do not collect personal data.
Third parties may be involved in hosting or delivering content (for example: web hosting, CDN, or storage providers). These services may process the PDFs on our behalf for delivery, and they are bound by our agreements to protect data. If you use downloaded PDFs outside the App, third parties (e.g., other apps on the device) may access those files as permitted by the device OS.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit (HTTPS) and to secure our servers. However, no system is perfectly secure — users should avoid uploading PDFs that contain highly sensitive personal information.
Retention of Downloaded Files
Downloaded PDFs for offline reading are retained on the user’s device until the user deletes them via the App or the device. We do not maintain copies of downloads tied to a user account because the App does not have user accounts.
Children
The App is intended for general audiences and is not designed for children under the applicable age in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child submitted personal information, contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
Legal & Copyright
MQ Encyclopedia only provides a viewer and delivery mechanism for PDFs that are hosted on our website. Users are responsible for ensuring they have the legal right to upload or download any content. If you believe content available through the App infringes your copyright, contact us immediately with the details so we can investigate and remove content if necessary.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the App or legal requirements. When changes are material, we will update the "Last updated" date and post the revised policy here.
